The Meeting Place is a drop-in centre for community members experiencing homelessness and inadequate housing who are over the age of 18.
The Meeting Place aims to lower social isolation and improve well-being. We increase social networks and access to income through advocacy, public education, and skills development. Using a community development approach, staff and members work together to remove problems that keep people from accessing housing, income and healthcare support.
For many members, Spirit Circles and access to an Elder at the Meeting Place guide their path to wellness. In addition, Meeting Place case management supports facilitate access to primary care; mental health, addiction and harm reduction supports; housing; and assistance with legal issues. Staff and members work together to create a community space that offers safety, security and access to basic needs as well as hope and possibility for the future.
COVID-19 Update: The Meeting Place is open to members experiencing homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Screening takes place at the Queen Street entrance. Supports to members of community who are housed are currently provided remotely.
