At West Neighbourhood House, we are committed to helping immigrants and refugees settle into life in Toronto. We serve all immigrants, no matter their immigration status in Canada and length of residency.
As part of this commitment, we offer programs specifically designed for newcomers:
- The Newcomer Settlement Program which provides information and support to help immigrants and refugees develop the skills and knowledge necessary to participate in society individually and as community members.
- The Newcomer Settlement Outreach Program, which works with immigrants and refugees who are homeless, living in a shelter or are at risk of losing their housing.
- The Newcomer Youth Program, which leads a variety of activities with a focus on skill-building, fighting social isolation, promoting civic engagement and building English-language skills for youth aged 13-24.
We also offer other programs that may be of support to immigrants and refugees, including English Conversation Groups, West Employment Services and Training, Financial Empowerment and Problem Solving, and more.
We are committed to access and equity and offer services for clients facing multiple and/or systemic barriers to accessing social and economic opportunities.
